Stillwater, MN: ECRS celebrates CUB, a member of its CATAPULT® Community, as the retailer completes the successful rollout of the CATAPULT point-of-sale system — the only truly unified transaction platform for grocers — in 107 stores.
ECRS provided ongoing support as CUB worked tirelessly to complete the conversion of their existing point-of-sale system to ECRS’ unified transaction platform. In just nine months, CUB implemented CATAPULT POS in 80 CUB grocery stores, as well as 27 CUB Wine & Spirit and CUB liquor stores.
This effort included the combined installation of about 1,500 point-of-sale lanes and self-checkout terminals. For the majority of the rollout, CUB hit a stride of 4 stores per week — a pace that required hard work, dedication, and partnership between the CUB and ECRS teams.

In September 2020, CUB hired Luke Anderson, a veteran tech boss and consultant, as CIO to provide guidance on its technology strategy. Recognizing the need for a modern transaction solution that could provide an exceptional consumer checkout experience, Anderson sought out an integrated system for its grocery, deli, garden, and pharmacy departments. Higher checkout speeds, seamless promotions executions, and a user-friendly shopper experience were keys in their decision to upgrade to the CATAPULT system.
