The National Grocers Association will be hosting their annual industry show from February 11 to 14. Because Las Vegas is loaded with things to see, it can be easy to get sidetracked. Planning ahead can help you stay on target. ECRS wants to help you make the most of your time at The Mirage and maximize your store success by attending these five can’t-miss sessions.

Technology is the Talk of the Town

Technology talk is taking all the attention at this year’s NGA Show (and for good reason). Tech trends are rapidly transforming the terrain of grocery. It’s important that retailers remember the reasons technology is becoming so crucial to commerce. Even in the age of artificial intelligence, effective customer engagement is still the end goal.

General Session

Digital Disruption – Understanding, Adaptation, And Persistence Equals Real Growth

Monday, February 12  •  11:00 am – 12:00 pm

Technological disruption of the retail space will only continue. This general session encourages grocers to embrace the chaos of change. NGA/Nielsen consumer research will explore the role of the consumer to answer the question, “How can retailers capitalize on this moment?”

Tech Trends Workshop Double Session

7.5 Billion Bosses – Consumers Are In Charge Now & E-Commerce Best Practices

Tuesday, February 13  •  8:30 am – 11:00 am

Take in these two Tech Trends sessions in one sitting! Get comfortable and keep your coffee close for a marathon. Explore the future of customer engagement and identify best practices to remain competitive. In the first session, the National Retail Federation will review market trends that are empowering consumers and giving them more choice in where, how, and when they make a transaction. In the second session, a panel of retailers will share stories of their transition into digital retail. Attend this session to learn best practices in the development and execution of e-commerce initiatives.

Surviving The Brave New World Of Food Retailing

Tuesday, February 13  •  3:15 pm – 4:30 pm

The disruption is here. The market advantages that grocery’s leaders relied on in the 20th century may not necessarily translate into strengths today. What makes a grocer competitive in an evolving market? This session will explore how new technologies can enable grocers to implement new successful approaches to consumer engagement, and store operations.

Catering to Convenience Workshop Sessions

The Catering to Convenience workshop track will explore ways in which grocery retailers can capture new market segments, engage new customers, and maximize their success in fresh foods department merchandising.

Catering to the Right Crowd – Shoppers and Local Businesses

Sunday, February 11  •  5:00 pm – 6:45 pm

Before you go mingling with your colleagues and co-workers at Sunday’s evening reception, drop into this workshop session. Hear how grocers are moving their catering operations beyond simple B2C services, opening B2B profit streams by building business relationships in their local communities.

Dairy, Deli and Foodservice Sales and Merchandising Best Practices

Monday, February 12  •  8:15 am – 9:15 am

Yes, it’s first thing in the morning on a Monday. Even so, it’ll be worth setting your alarm early enough to make it to this one. In this session, the International Dairy Deli Bakery Association will be sharing results of their research; exploring successful merchandising concepts and directing retailers to professional development resources that will make their deli operations more dynamic.
