Berkshire Co-op is nestled away in the beautiful Massachusetts town of Great Barrington. They are fully integrated into their community with over 3,200 co-op members. They have a mindset of being more than just a store.
A lot of the work that we do and a lot of the money that we raise through our owner’s shares… is in community outreach and assisting those in our community who are less fortunate.

It’s a whole new world for membership management. Our owner payments are tracked by the system now. Reminders come up at the register when people are due. In the past, they were completely different systems, so we had to keep a database of all the payment information and all the contact information which then had to be manually connected to the POS system. Now it’s all one system. And we catch every payment, we catch every late payment, we’re getting a lot more equity payments in because we’re not missing them personally. We don’t have to remember to tell people. The system just does that.
