Johnson Compounding & Wellness Center is a specialized, family-owned pharmacy located in Waltham, MA. Owners, Steve and Diane Bernardi, emphasize natural products and overall healthy living in combination with traditional medicine. They are a compounding only pharmacy and also offer a large selection of natural products and Home Medical Equipment. To promote consumer education, they provide a wellness newsletter, internet resources, literature, and in-store lectures. In spring of 2006, Johnson Compounding and Wellness Center installed the ECRS CATAPULT™ retail automation system to help more efficiently operate their complex pharmacy business. The CATAPULT system was chosen to replace existing point-of-sale technology because of its advanced functionality and ECRS' experience with natural products and pharmacy retail, the two main components of their store. Since implementation, the ECRS solution suite has helped streamline customer check-outs, inventory management, and regulatory compliance such as IIAS for the acceptance of health benefit debit cards. A major benefit of the system has also been automation of their Frequent Shopper Program, a very important part of their business. CATAPULT allows them to easily add new members and look up shopper profiles. Having this data available at their fingertips enables them to maximize the benefits of their customer loyalty program.
